As one of the leading aesthetic clinics in the UK, offering Dualsculpting, multiple site treatment Coolsculpting, we are delighted to reveal that the beautiful Lisa Snowdon was recently announced as the UK Ambassador for CoolSculpting. Lisa Snowdon Coolsculpting journey began when a friend introduced her to the fat freezing treatment.
Like many of us, Lisa has tried following a healthy diet and exercise programme, but had found that there were still areas of her body that contained fat that she just couldn’t shift. When a friend told her about Coolsculpting, Lisa wondered if it could help her reap the rewards of the healthy living shift she had already made, by helping her to achieve her desired body shape.
Lisa was born in Hertfordshire in January 1972. It seems that Lisa Snowdon weight stories have plagued her for her whole life – with some people reporting that she was bullied at school for being too thin. Life changed for her when she attended the Italia Conti School though, as she was spotted in the nineties and became a model.
This not only led to Lisa becoming a cover model for Elle, Marie Claire and Vogue, but she also became the face of Gucci. She later became a TV presenter, hosting such shows as MTV Select, Britain’s Next Top Model and Through the Keyhole.
So, what is it about Coolsculpting that Lisa loves? Well, the Telegraph recently quoted her as saying: “Coolsculpting is an incredible treatment that works in conjunction with the way I live my life. My advice would be to incorporate this treatment if you are active, you take good care of yourself, and want to shift any areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet or exercise.”
Let’s look a little closer at this “incredible treatment”
Coolsculpting is a body contouring treatment which uses fat freezing (also known as cryolipolysis) to target stubborn areas of fat – without surgery. The device used in the Coolsculpting treatment freezes and kills fat cells without harming neighbouring muscles, nerves or skin so you shouldn’t experience any downtime afterwards. It also takes only around an hour or so to treat each area.
The pros of Coolsculpting include:
There are some cons associated with Coolsculpting, and these include:
Lisa Snowdon is a great candidate for Coolsculpting – as she generally has a stable weight. Weight fluctuations are normal over time with things like age as our metabolism slows, pregnancy and more recently becoming more sedentary in lockdown. Lisa also has a healthy lifestyle and diet, which we would always recommend for our CoolSculpting patients. Lisa herself has said she has some small problem areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.
On the other hand, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, are suffering from poor circulation or neuropathy, or who have a pacemaker or defibrillator fitted should avoid Coolsculpting. It is also advisable to avoid this treatment if you have open or infected cuts or wounds, are suffering from eczema or dermatitis or there is a rash in the treatment area.
Each treatment will take between 35 to 60 minutes depending on the number of and size of the areas being treated. Your aesthetician will make sure you are comfortable and then map out the site to be treated with a pen. They will then lay a protective gel pad over your skin before they apply a paddle to the area to be treated. Your skin and the underlying fat are then suctioned into the paddle, which will then lower the temperature of the area to minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Once the Coolsculpting treatment is complete, your aesthetician will remove the paddle and massage the frozen areas in order to kick-start your body’s natural process of excreting dead fat cells.
Recovery experiences with Coolsculpting can vary based on how your body responds and how many areas you are having treated. You should be able to walk out of the clinic and carry on with your day after treatment, but you may feel a little sore and notice some swelling of the treated areas. This is why many people choose to take the rest of the day to rest and relax.
It is advised that you wear compression garments for the first few days after treatment, to help with discomfort and to ease any swelling.
Five days after treatment you may start to feel nerve twinges in the treated area, which is normal as the nerves will have started to regenerate. Rather than twinges you may feel cramping, stinging or tingling but this usually quickly subsides. If it lasts for a long time or feels more painful than you can manage, you should contact us again to see what we can recommend for the pain.
You may also start to feel itchy in the treated area, from around one to two weeks after the procedure. This is a typical reaction to the inflammatory process of clearing fat cells that Coolsculpting stimulates, and so can be treated with oral antihistamines.
Your body will naturally flush out the damaged fat cells in the three to four months following treatment, but you should continue to look after yourself by opting for healthy food, drinking plenty of water, and exercising regularly.
You can drink a moderate amount of alcohol in the weeks between Coolsculpting sessions, but you should refrain from drinking any alcohol in the days immediately after the treatment as it can cause bruising to appear worse that it would otherwise.
You should begin to see results within a month of the first treatment, with the majority of them becoming visible within two months. However, your body will continue to eliminate fat cells from the treated area for up to six months after treatment.
Some people think that this is a long time to see results, but with Coolsculpting the fat is metabolized and eliminated naturally by the body, rather than being sucked out. The rate at which this happens, therefore, will depend on your individual biology.
With this in mind, you may decide you want more treatments over time, in order to achieve the results, you want, as with each subsequent treatment the residual fat will continue to be reduced.
Coolsculpting results can be permanent, as long as you don’t gain weight. If you gain weight then the fat cells that remain in the treated area will expand, and you could develop contour irregularities as fat cells in the surrounding areas also expand. The best way to make the most of your treatment is to persist with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise.
We will leave the last word to CoolSculpting’s new UK Ambassador. As part of Lisa Snowdon weight loss journey, she explored the World’s Number 1 Fat-Reduction Treatment, Coolsculpting, to help her achieve her desired body shape and make her favourite jeans fit better.
