Botox is a protein which is made from the Botulinum Toxin protein which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Although it is classed as a toxin, it has both cosmetic and medical benefits when used in small doses – such as those used here at KLNIK. It is a naturally occurring bacteria which can temporarily paralyse muscles to help reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.
The primary use of Botox is to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face for both men and women. It is most often used to combat the appearance of wrinkles between the eyebrows, wrinkles around the eyes, horizontal creases on the forehead, and lines at the corner of the mouth.
Botox also has some medical uses as well, such as severe arm sweating, eyelid spasms and alopecia although not all of these areas have been researched thoroughly yet.
It can take up to 72 hours to see the final results of your Botox injection, and it should last somewhere between 3 to 12 months.
